Steller - Wild Elements
Steller

One of the nice things about spending time in the Great Bear Rainforest along some of the rivers and streams that we hang out at is that you have the opportunity to shoot things you might not otherwise see from the sailboat.  You could go from shooting Black Bears, and then a Spirit Bear comes out of the woods, and then look across the river and see a family of River Otters, and then have a Steller’s Jay land on a beautiful stump quite close-by.  That pretty much sums up our day on the river.

I love how bright and vibrant the blues in the Steller’s Jay feathers look compared to the mossy greens on the stump that it has stopped and perched on.  The Steller’s Jays were scouring the stream for fish eggs which would provide a great source of calories for them.
