About this Image

A Great Blue Heron stopped and stood still for us to get a head shot of it in the Great Bear Rainforest.  Usually birds can be pretty skittish, and don’t often offer the opportunity to get a full head shot (or you have a situation where you have too much lens and have no choice but take a head shot), like I did in this image.

This image was taken in one of the inlets that we explore while on the Great Bear Rainforest trip, and I think it has produced some of my best Great Blue Heron shots over the years, including “On Stilts” that I captured last year, under very different weather conditions.
