While I wasn’t there, so cannot say for sure, we are guessing that this Dall Sheep lost part of his horn in the head-butting battles that occur during the fall rut.
Male Dall Sheep will butt heads in the fall to display dominance and fight for the chance to be the one that gets to mate with the females. As you can see from this image, the males do not always come out unscathed.
