On the Mound

A coyote in Yellowstone National Park is on the mound, getting ready to deliver his first pitch.  Joking aside, I did notice that the coyotes tended to stand, and even sleep on these little mounds in the park.  I think it gives them a better viewpoint, and helps to keep an enemy from sneaking up on them.

During my 2017 trip to the park, I didn’t actually see any wolves (for the first time), but saw a lot of coyotes, even small packs of coyotes, so they must have been taking advantages of the wolves being elsewhere, and hanging out where we could see them.
