We were treated to this mother Grizzly Bear, who had two one-year-old cubs, laying down on this stump to take a nap. But she just could not seem to get settled, and kept looking over her shoulder, while the cubs continued to feed in the grass nearby.
Suddenly she stood up, and posed like this, really assessing the scene and the estuary. Not long after this, one cub went on high alert, and then the mother and cubs fled. We were wondering if perhaps it was us that scared her off. Well it was not us, shortly after they ran, the largest male that we had seen to this point, came wandering down the shoreline, and was smelling around for the mother and her cubs, including spending a lot of time smelling this very spot that the mother slept and posed.
