There is nothing more spectacular then seeing a Grizzly Bear when they are completely relaxed (especially when surrounded by humans), as she is in this image, Tranquil. With Grizzly Bear females weighing up to 400 lbs, watching them lay down and go to sleep right in front of us, just like your pet at home does, is simply amazing.

This Grizzly Bear was photographed in the Khutzeymateen Grizzly Bear Sanctuary, which is completely closed to hunting. Therefore, the Grizzly Bears in this area may be more calm around humans than in areas where the Grizzly Bears can be hunted. Additionally, access to this area is very restricted for tourism, and the guides with the permits to enter this area have been treating this bear, and all the other bears in the area with the utmost respect. This is what allows us to capture some of these private moments with the bears.
