Looking Upstream

Salmon are a critical part of the diet of bears in the fall, including this Spirit Bear.  They spend a great deal of time on the edge of rivers and streams, and also wading through the rivers to catch salmon and fatten up before fall.

This is a classic pose while fishing, where the bear will wade into the water, and stand still in one spot watching the salmon swim by, and then somehow they decide which one they want and they pounce.
