A Sea Otter wrapped up in kelp (as you can see it wrapped around the stomach area) looking like it is super happy and loving life. Sea otters will wrap themselves in the kelp to keep themselves from floating away why sleeping/resting, as the kelp acts as an anchor to hold them in their place.
One of the features of the Canon 1dx Mark II is that you can access all AF points up to f/8 aperture. This image was taken as a test image to test the results of the 500mm f/4L IS II plus the 2x extender, therefore taken at 1000mm. I must admit I was surprisingly happy with the results.
