The thing that amazes me the most about wildlife photography, is that you never know what to expect. In this image, the last thing that we were expecting was that this Grizzly Bear was going to jump, and clear the water underneath it. We all thought, and got ready for it to swim across the water (or even walk, we didn’t know how deep it was), but instead all of the sudden it leapt across.
Witnessing something like this really gives me an appreciation for just how agile a Grizzly Bear is. To see something that can weigh upwards of 700lbs leap from one side to the other over this water, like it’s a long jumper, was astounding.
This image was photographed on my 2017 trip to the Khutzeymateen Grizzly Bear Sanctuary, and this year we had the opportunity to see many different aspects of the lives of the Grizzly Bears, and had some really unique experiences that I get to relive as I edit and post these images.
