A unique perspective for us during my 2018 Marine Mammals trip, we had a Humpback Whale surface pretty close to us while we were out exploring in the zodiac looking for Sea Lions and Sea Otters.
This tail is unique from the others that we saw on the trip because we were at eye level (maybe even a bit under eye level) with the Humpback Whale’s tail. I also like that there is kelp falling off the tail along with the water that is streaming off of it. I guess that this is a sign that the kelp forests in this area were in full force, thanks in part to the revival of the Sea Otters, as this may not have been a sight 20 years ago.
