There was no shortage of Black Oystercatchers on our 2019 Gwaii Haanas trip, I think that every time we went in the zodiac we saw a couple, even including some chicks, so we had plenty of opportunities to grab shots. What caught my eye on this shot was how bright eyed it appeared due to the soft green background. I also like that you can see the toenails, which isn’t always easy to capture, because they aren’t often posed on top of a little point in the rock like this guy was. I found that this guy had a lot more browns in his feathers than I normally see.
