Sea Otters are the only marine mammal that can live in the frigid ocean temperatures without blubber to keep them warm. Instead it’s their dense, water repellent fur that keeps them warm. In order to keep their fur water repellent, it requires constant grooming to keep the oils in their fur. Therefore they can be quite fun to photograph because they are often changing positions.
This image was captured as the otter was moving around, and almost looks like he is perfectly posed for the camera with one hand under his chin looking directly at the camera.
