Wild Elements Nature Photography is a showcase of the wildlife and nature photography of Terri Shaddick.  A little bit about how I got my start, well it all starts with growing up on the East Coast of Canada in Miramichi, New Brunswick.

After completing university in 2007, I made the move to Calgary where I completed the Chartered Accountant Designation in 2009, and  I have worked at various accounting jobs in Calgary since getting my CA.

However, my real passion is photography. I got my first “real” camera in 2009, a Canon rebel T1i, because now that I was done school, I wasn’t sure how I was going to fill all my new-found free time.  Over the next year or so I became more and more focused on photography, specifically of nature, and also did some moto photography on the side. In 2012 I began to get a little more serious about photography, investing all my free time (and money) into my passion.

Beginning in 2016 I partnered up with Brad Hill of Natural Art Images to start offering and leading photo tours which are mostly focused on the coast of British Columbia. We have been continuously growing our photo tour offerings, which can be found on my Photo Tours page these tours include the Great Bear Rainforest, Khutzeymateen, Marine Mammals, Pacific Rim, and more that we are looking to add.

My main focus is nature photography, with a passion for photographing mammals (especially carnivores) that live in Alberta’s National Parks, and the coast of British Columbia. The photographs that I have had the opportunity to capture can be found in my online Photo Portfolio.

I have a strong focus on conservation and ethics when it comes to photographing wildlife. I never bait an animal to try to get the shot, and I try to have as little of an impact as possible on the animals that I photograph.  At the end of the day I still have 50 more years of photography ahead of me (I hope!), and want to make sure that the animals last as long as I do, and even longer for future generations to enjoy.  In addition to my ethics I support a number of conservation organizations on the coast including Raincoast, more information about there efforts can be found on their website.

I am always looking forward to meeting new photographers with a keen interest in nature and photography, so feel free to contact me at any time to discuss my images, tours, gear or just general chit-chat.  You can contact me at contact@wildelements.ca.
