I don’t often see Pileated Woodpeckers, however every time that I do I am always amazed by the size of them, especially compared to other woodpeckers.
If you look closely at this image you can see that the woodpecker is pecking the tree, and you can see the wood falling, but why do they do this? Pileated Woodpeckers peck the tree to get at the insects that live inside – their diets consist of insect, but also they eat fruit and buds off trees.
