Swim By

This Grizzly Bear decided to swim close by our zodiac while we were photographing her. What I love about this image is how the white of the eye really pops out because even while she was moving past us she was sure to keep one eye on us the entire time.

This image was taken in the Khutzeymateen Grizzly Bear Sanctuary during my 2016 trip. One of the unique things about photographing Grizzly Bears in the Khutzeymateen is you often come away with many different images of bears swimming. The bears in this area will need to swim to move from one part of the estuary to another, especially during high tides, sometimes they do this to access new food sources and other times to avoid annoyances (like other bears). We had the opportunity to photograph this particular grizzly swimming several times during my trip.
