This beautiful Spirit Bear (Kermode Bear) picked a nice mossy stump, with a vibrant background, as the place to lay down for her afternoon nap. The stump looks so comfortable that even I might be able to sleep on it. This image was photographed in the pristine and unique Great Bear Rainforest, located on the coast of British Columbia, and is the largest coastal temperate rainforest in the world.

Not only is it the largest coastal temperate rainforest, but it’s also the only place in the world that you will find these Kermode Bears with the white coats (which are called Spirit Bears or White Bears).

As you can see in the camera specs, this image was taken at ISO 20,000 (no, that’s not a typo), and while you can still see some noise in the the image, it certainly isn’t bad, and really shows how far cameras and post-processing software have come.
